Identified archaeologically valued locations in NCPCP

North Central Province Canal Project (NCPCP) with the collaboration of the Archaeological Department facilitating site visits towards the canal trace belonging to the contract packages NCPCP 4 and NCPCP-6 that to be awarded in near future. The NCPCP 4 contract package distance about 10KM (17+715Km to 27+509Km) from Madetthewa tank to the southern portal of the UEC-ICB 2A contract package. The NCPCP 6 contract package consists of 30.38 Km distance from Yakalla junction to the Mahakanadarawa Oya. The main purpose of facilitating these site visits is to identify the archaeologically valued locations throughout the packages and take necessary steps to conserve the identified location. NCPCP is implementing its project activities under the 6 contract packages according to the conditions of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) conducted by the approving body of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA). It is being highly emphasized to conduct a detailed survey about the Archaeology locations throughout the canal trace and to take necessary steps to conservation the valued locations, As per the environmental clearance letter. Thereby the project with collaboration and consultation of the Archaeological Department facilitating to conduct of the appropriate survey and conserve the locations. The estimated expenses for this purpose are covered by the project itself. And also the project is much concerned about conserving the archaeological valued locations and other environmental aspects coming throughout the project implementation.
