The Secretary to the Ministry of Irrigation Mr. U.D.C.Jayalal and team attended two days field visit to review the construction progress of the projects of Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP). In first day, the visiting team inspected the ongoing constructions in Mahakithula and Mahakirula reservoirs which are being built under the North Western Province Canal Project (NWPCP) and the 28 km long Irrigation tunnel in the North Central Province Canal Project (NCPCP). Following day, tunnel construction in Kaluganga Moragahakanda Transfer Canal and anicut construction in Minipe Left Bank Canal Rehabilitation Project were inspected.
The secretory focused for the challenges and possible solutions in rolling out of these massive constructions. He stated that he is in a stand to extend his support and guidance in completing the projects on time.
Eng. D.B. Wijayarathna, Program Director of MWSIP, Eng Ranjith De Silva, Deputy Programme Director, Sen.Eng. of NCPCP, K.O.U. Karunanayaka and Dr. Beau Freemen, Team Leader of Program Management Design and Supervision Consultant of MWSIP, Project Directors of Project Implementation Units (PIUs) and key officials of the MWSIP participated at the visit.
