The Inception Mission for Loan 4741-SRI of the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) Stage 2 Project was successfully conducted from 25th to 30th March 2026, under the guidance of the Secretary to the Ministry.
This phase of the project will be implemented through a co-financing arrangement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), IFAD, and the OPEC Fund, along with Government of Sri Lanka counterpart funding, reflecting a strong partnership to advance national water security priorities.
Held at the Mahaweli Authority Conference Hall, the mission focused on reviewing implementation strategies, strengthening coordination among stakeholders, and ensuring effective and timely project delivery.
MWSIP Stage 2 is expected to significantly contribute to sustainable water resource management, enhanced agricultural productivity, and improved climate resilience across Sri Lanka.
