The Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation visited the North Central Province Canal Project (NCPCP) on 14 October 2025. The visit began with detailed presentations by the Program Director of the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) and the Project Director of NCPCP, highlighting the overall objectives, progress, and plans of the project through presentations and videos. A comprehensive discussion was also held regarding project implementation and related challenges.
Following the briefing session, the Minister visited the Northern Shaft area at Mahameegaswewa, where several key locations were observed. He then proceeded to the Southern Portal site at Konduruwawa and traveled approximately three kilometers through the tunnel by locomotive.
Key staff members from the Program Management Unit, Project Implementation Unit, Program Management Design Supervision Consultant, and the Contractor jointly facilitated and supported the visit.
