Tunnel Connecting Kalu Ganga and Moragahakanda Reservoirs Successfully Completed

he construction of the 7.8 km long tunnel, channeling water from the Kalu Ganga Reservoir to the Moragahakanda Reservoir has been completed, with the final observation test proving successful.
On October 30, 2024, a joint field observation was conducted to inspect the completed canal infrastructure. This visit was organized by the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, led by the residence engineer for the Kalu Ganga and Moragahakanda Reservoirs. Key personnel, including engineers from the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), the Project Management Design and Supervision Consultant (PMDSC), Mahaweli Authority, and representatives from the contractor team, were in attendance along with other technical officers.
This critical infrastructure milestone will play a vital role in enhancing water distribution efficiency between the two reservoirs and to the NCP canal.
