The construction of the Siambalangamuwa-Dummiya electric fence, a project initiated at the request of the Wildlife Conservation Department, has begun under the Wildlife Management Plan of the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program. This fence, which started construction recently, is set to be completed within 240 days.
Covering numerous GN divisions within the Polpithigama Secretariat Division, the electric fence aims to mitigate human-elephant conflicts and safeguard local farmlands.
